Summer Support Ramps Up with Two New Endowments

Preservation staff works on a volume

The Libraries has recently received some welcome funding for collections and preservation from long-time library supporters.

Henry Jungman bolstered his ongoing support for the Libraries with the establishment of a new fund to ensure the continued acquisition of physical resources for the Fine Arts Library (FAL). The Henry M. Jungman Fine Arts Library Enhancement Fund will provide monies for the purchase and preservation of books, music scores and other physical resources to serve the research needs of music students, faculty and researchers, and will provide for the ongoing development and maintenance of the FAL’s recording studio.

The Libraries received a generous contribution from university patrons Martyn and Joanna Hitchcock to support the efforts of the Libraries’ exceptional preservation department. Joanna Hitchcock is a previous director of the University of Texas Press.

The Joanna and Martyn Hitchcock Cultural Preservation Fund will provide for the purchase of supplies, materials, equipment, specialized staffing and stipends for student workers in addition to other collections conservation and sustainability needs. This endowment is the first to exclusively support preservation work at the Libraries.

Endowments like these provide an ongoing source of funding for core operations at the Libraries, and can be augmented with additional gifts from other donors.
